United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) held a groundbreaking ceremony on December 29 for the construction of a technology park for the development and manufacture of LED chips and other new energy products in Jinan, Shandong province, China, according to a Digitimes article. UMC hopes the technology park will become the largest LED cluster in China in five years.
