Legislation that creates a statewide electronic waste recycling program now awaits Governor Rendell's signature. House Bill 708 requires manufacturers to establish a program to collect, transport, and recycle old computer equipment and televisions sold in here. The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) must approve the manufacturers’ recycling programs. The bill also bans the landfill disposal of the e-waste in two years.
