"Big props for Green Reporting..."

"Environmental reporting garnered big awards this week in the Pennsylvania Associated Press Managing Editors contest.

For large circulation papers, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette won first place in the public service category for its "Mapping Mortality" series on western Pennsylvania’s deadly air pollution by the team led by reporters David Templeton and Don Hopey, multimedia specialist Laura Schneiderman, photographer Robin Rombach and videographer Doug Oster. Second place in the same category went to Donald Gilliland of the Harrisburg Patriot-News editorial board for "State Tracking Outrages Foes of Gas Drilling," about the spying on environmentalists and others by a contractor for Pennsylvania Homeland Security.

Among smaller papers, Laure Legere of the Times-Tribune and Cliff White and Anne Danahy of the Centre Daily Times won first place awards for their coverage of Marcellus Shale drilling issues."
