"Philadelphia a cleantech capital..."

"Pennsylvania has become a leader in clean technologies over the last several years and Philadelphia is at the heart of the state's progress. Consequently, Philadelphia was recently selected as one of Reuter's top ten "capitals of cleantech” in the US. The city's cleantech highlights include its "increase in solar energy technologies, renewable energy initiatives, and the development of the Navy Yard into a cleantech hub”. Also mentioned was Lincoln Financial Field's energy plan which includes the installation of wind turbines and solar panels. Rounding out the top ten cleantech capitals were:

Renewable energy portion of U.S. power generation quickly approaching that of nuclear
A recent release from the Energy Information Administration shows that the share of U.S. power produced by renewables is quickly approaching that of nuclear. An increase in renewable energy capacity brought its portion of generation to 10.92% in 2010, while nuclear power's share of domestic energy production decreased to 11.26% the same year. A slight difference of only 0.34 percent remains between renewables and nuclear. With a decrease in support for nuclear energy following the Japan disaster, it appears that renewables will soon becomce an energy leader.
